Lincolnwood School Quilt

>

Art Teacher Monica Vick at Lincolnwood School arranged for Maggie to work with her students to create a quilt made from student self portraits. Maggie visited her classes over several weeks guiding the students as they drew their self portraits and transferred the images into silkscreens using Thermofax silkscreens. This enabled the students to print their drawings on plain white fabric. Later, once those prints were dry, students used textile paints to color in their own images. Maggie and two volunteer student moms assembled the blocks to create the quilt top. Later Maggie layered and quilted the piece before returning it to the school for permanent display.
